Video! Google vs. Facebook Battling over Location!

Team Altman Awesome Google vs. Facebook Video!

Google vs. Facebook on Location is heating up between Google and Facebook over their ‘Places’ location services, aimed at luring local business advertising dollars to their respective services, as the race begins to really heat up over the local advertising dollars from businesses that want to get the most return for their marketing budgets. The real battle will be waged and escalate over the real-time mobile advertising  market as more and more people turn to smart phones that apps can be written to specifically target niche markets within the mobile community which continues to grow exponentially, and of course the ultimately winner in the competition will be the consumer market. Remember, competition is GOOD!

Facebook – Announces the Release of Places!

In case you haven’t heard yet, Facebook is pitching its Facebook Places in a promo video that explains what Places is all about, and how Facebook members might use the new “location” service.

Facebook, the largest social network in the world announced Places at a launch event this week, where the video was first released pitching the value of Places for enhancing member’s daily life, and they talked about examples of Places helping connect friends or relate to stories about what others did at the places when they were there. We think you will agree it’s a well-made video creation.

A lot has already been said about the affect Places will have on Foursquareand Yelp, along with thousands of local businesses.

We have embedded the video for your viewing, along with a video on “Controlling Your Information on Places.” Let us know what you think about Facebook’s Places and the video presentation.

One final note is Places right now will only work with an App for Apple’s iPhone.

Now, a little more than halfway through 2010, Facebook has announced reaching the 500 million member milestone and launched a new application called Facebook Stories where you can share your story and read hundreds of others.

Congratulations to Facebook on reaching the important 500 million member milestone, which raises the obvious question, “When will Facebook reach 600 million members?
