Entrepreneurship – Pay no Attention to Hecklers

When either a player or entrepreneur is ‘in the Zone’, they play their own game flawlessly and with perfection.

Business Lessons from Baseball – Pay no Attention to the Hecklers

Okay, so why it is that many professional athletes can’t leave fans that heckle them alone, and yes, ignore them. It seems that way too many times an athlete will just go off on a fan in the stands that may have gone just a little too far in his taunting. I think most will agree that is not a very pretty sight, and no matter the level of abuse the heckler reached, it’s always the athlete that ends up the one who looks bad. Of course, right or wrong, most people assume and therefore expect the athlete to rise above the crowd, never allow the taunts, jeers, and comments to get them to react. After all, the athlete is the one getting paid, right? And, the fan is doing the paying.

There is something eerily similar that happens in business, and business owners and entrepreneurs face almost every day. The well known phrase, “The customer is always right, even when they’re wrong,” means that businesses sometimes have to bite their collective tongue and continue to move forward, even when any objective observer would strongly-consider that you were “right.”

Let’s examine several reasons why you should always take the high road

You absolutely gain critical karma. It’s highly agreed by many that adding positive energy into the universe eventually brings positive experiences back to you.

You really never know for certain what’s taking place behind the scenes with others. Bad things may be happening and causing the heckler to… well, heckle out of shear emotional frustration. So, giving others the benefit and much undeserved serving of grace just may provide them important help when they are in greatest need.

You really just can’t “win.” It’s always the same, whether with customers or heckling fans you can never win (remember to keep the karma/energy positive), even if you “win.” Avoid getting into a proverbial “spitting contest” when no matter the outcome, it will just make you look bad.

Don’t waste the time or energy on something so negative. You can never get back the time spent, and fighting back at someone only fuels the fire. Always direct your energy where it will be most effectively used.

Yes, it’s true that your mom was right. Especially about people talking behind your back were just being jealous, which most of the time, is true. Many times this is a valuable signal that you’re succeeding, and get ready, because the more you succeed, the more it happens.

Here are tips to best block out the jeers and taunts

Imagine them as little children, which is what they’ve reverted to as the hecklers they become. If a two-year-old throws a tantrum, you’d treat them with increased compassion and less anger, so when you imagine them that way, it works.

Breathe deep when you think you’re being attacked, because it’s extremely easy to fall into that adrenaline produced “fight or flight” response. By breathing deeply you help your body clear the adrenaline, which in turn helps clear your mind.

Understand clearly when you should bring in a third party. If a response from you is required and you cannot answer without anger or emotion, on objective third party should answer for you. This is the specific reason why many, many businesses and entrepreneurs outsource their customer support.

Never forget that your time and energy is extremely precious, so invest it where you’ll get the most positive, enjoyable and quality experiences in return for everyone.

The Zen of Success – Gratitude

The Successful understand the importance of being thankful for what they have and giving back, in order to tie it all together. Gratitude is often thought of as the antidote to materialism, and while materialism is obsessing on what you desire, gratitude is appreciating what you have. Words you will regularly hear The Successful use, many times daily include grateful, thankful, gift, luck, and fortunate.

If you are looking for one key to the Successful that begins to tie everything together, I would have to say it’s that they are truly consciously grateful for all the things they have in their life. Why you might wonder? A grateful person is usually a happy person that finds satisfaction and contentment with the direction of their lives, opposite of the overwhelming emptiness that accompanies only finding short lived happiness in material things. The Successful understand that as you proceed through life, you find your joys in the simplest everyday happenings and events.

They say we receive in kind those things we project into the world around us, be it any kindness, meanness, honesty, or deceit, and through what is identified and known as “Karma,” the world has a way of paying us back sometimes many times over, be it good or bad.

Again, repeating the one simple key to the Successful is to be consciously grateful for all of the things you have, and you will find that open and sincere expressions of thankfulness to the Universe or whatever God you believe in for your blessings outwardly changes your demeanor, and alters the way in which you are viewed by others.

A grateful person is usually a happy person, although most of society is taught not to accept the status quo, and strongly believes you can never achieve enough…enough money, enough friends, and enough power. Those that never learn to find the joy in their successes no matter how small will never achieve the balance, fulfillment and happiness in their lives.

As the Successful proceed through life, they learn to find their joys in even the simplest everyday events, and to be thankful for each small victory, each success, and especially for each failure. A critical point to learn and understand is that it is those failures that help build strength and character, and allow us to push through and persevere the next time we are faced with failure. Often overlooked, the human spirit has a tremendous ability to forgive, to heal, and to learn, so fill yourself with gratitude, express it openly at every opportunity that presents itself, and watch in amazement as good things begin to come your way.

Understanding the Harmony of Your Business

Understanding that the existence of harmony in your business creates a workplace where you and everyone else involved in the business love to be, is an important component in your drive to developing a harmonious business environment that encourages the collaboration and openness needed to maximize the success of your business operations.

Now, for you the Entrepreneur to understand and achieve harmony in the truest sense of Karma, you must develop a strong sense of “doing the right thing” with no motivation for any kind of reward, knowing that the ultimate reward is the creation and presence of a great sense of trust in everyone that is part of your business, and once you are able to fully understand this, then efficiencies in the business can be developed and once again, maximized with achievement of the greatest level success in mind.

You should also realize that the task of creating a harmonious environment is not an easy one, for harmony takes time, an openness of the heart, and bravery, along with sleepless nights when any of your staff of employees and co-workers is experiencing a rough period in their life, just trying to think of ways you might be able to help.

Cooperation, Dedication, Contribution, Collaboration, are all different terms that are used to define when you are focusing on harmony, the springboard to invaluable, priceless teamwork, which creates the energy that serves to fuel creativity.

Many Western Entrepreneurs have been successful at reshaping their mind-set to be more aware of the Zen properties of successful business, as they have reach the understanding and become enlightened to the importance of harmony in the business, and that it no longer carries the stigma of not being “macho,” and that although successful people are often lauded for being self-interested and disruptive, as well as argumentative in the western cultures, that set of assumptions is reserved for those that cheer the lone hero that leads with one ambition, as they follow him in their blissful, and harmonious state of ignorance.

A number of Entrepreneurs that have been able to maximize their success, have done so by looking beneath the surface of business in today’s CONNECTED global markets, at the opportunities presented by the heightened sense of value placed by the market in many qualities present in Zen like harmony, connection, relationships, simplicity, and other qualities that are very important to the customer experience, enlightenment and well-being, as what has taken place is a permanent shift in market values and perceptions, which has become the driving force in the continued development and refinement of successful Entrepreneurial Strategies.
